LINER NOTES
MIDA is a collective working in ink, marker, and surfboard paint, based in Sydney. Our works are hand-drawn; our boards are one-offs; our tunes are chosen, not algorithmed. We don't sign individually — everything we make lives under MIDA.
We started in 2024 with a stack of paper and a pen that wouldn't sit straight. The work has stayed at that scale — one piece at a time, on the kitchen table or on the studio floor, with a song on. We don't make anything we wouldn't want to live with.
Each piece is paired with the song that was playing while it was drawn. Side A is the paper. Side B is the boards. The songs aren't decoration; they're the air the work was made in.
We do
- Draw.
- Paint boards.
- Curate tunes.
- Work from Sydney.
We don't
- Sign individually.
- Make for the feed.
- License our work.
- Take ourselves too seriously.
MIDA acknowledges the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which we work.
